Volga Shipping carries 6.9 mln t of cargo in 2008

In 2008, vessels of Volga Shipping OJSC carried 6.9 million tonnes of cargo (-1.4%, year-on-year), the company reports. Cargo turnover of Volga Shipping amounted to 10 bln t/km (-9.2%).

Export accounted for 1.9 million tonnes (-24%, year-on-year).

The volume of cargo transported by rivers and lakes amounted to 3.6 million tonnes (+24%).

Transportation by sea-going vessels totaled 1.4 million tonnes (-16%, year-on-year).

In 2008, the company completed its shipbuilding program adopted in 2002. 12 sea-and-river going vessels were built during 7-year period.

The company offers a wide range of transportation including inner waterways transportation of goods, international freight deliveries and carriage of passengers. The company’s fleet number about 250 vessels.
