THE proposed amendment to the Transpacific Stabilisation Agreement (TSA) to come into effect this month has been met by opposition by the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) that believes that discussion between members on capacity goes against antitrust immunity under the US Shipping Act.
Those voicing concerns to 14-strong TSA carrier group include the National Industrial Transportation League, National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association and Agriculture Transportation Coalition, reports Newark's Journal of Commerce.
The FMC's request for further information will delay the amendment that the TSA says is in place to allow for members to talk with one another on cost cutting and operating efficiency alongside rates discussion already approved by the commission.
