Townsville council to raise cruise ship terminal concerns

Jan 29, 2008 Shipping

Among the main concerns - traffic flow on the only access to the development, protection against storm surges and who is going to pay for the extra infrastructure.

Townsville Mayor Tony Mooney says the actual ship terminal could probably proceed tomorrow, but it is all the attachments that are likely to cause problems.

"When you add to that a fairly major marina and associated development, commercial and residential, it does get to a point where there are a number of significant questions, what I've said before is there is no green light from the council," he said.
