None hurt as hooded 'anti-war protesters' vandalise Zim office

Feb 13, 2009 Shipping

HOODED assailants, supposedly anti-war protesters, broke into Israel's Zim Line office in Venice, breaking furniture and spray painting inside walls with pro-Palestinian and anti-Israeli slogans.

We are neither for Hamas nor the Israeli government, said a man calling a Italian news agency Ansa after the attack. We align ourselves with only one side as in all wars, that of the civilian population and those who fight for their rights. We cannot stand aside while men, women and children are massacred in Palestine. We have decided to punish Israeli economic interests in our city through an attack on the Israeli company Zim Lines.

No one was hurt, and company sources, who declined to be identified, said office staff were able to resume work after more than a day's interruption, reported London's Lloyd's List.
