CMA CGM takes over liner agency operations in India

French ocean carrier CMA CGM announced the formation of a new wholly-owned business unit in India, CMA CGM Agencies (India) Pvt. Ltd., to handle its agency operations in that country.

The move followed the termination of its erstwhile joint venture arrangement with a local partner.

The company in a notice to the trade said the new company took over operations at all Indian locations as of Jan. 1.

Marseilles-based CMA CGM is one of the largest liner operators to and from India, having moved 225,000 TEUs through the Port of Jawaharlal Nehru in fiscal 2007-08 compared with 175,000 TEUs the previous year.
