French seize 19 pirates off Somalia

A French warship on Sunday reportedly prevented attempts by pirates from seizing two cargo ships in the Gulf of Aden.

   Agence France Presse quoted the French president's officer as saying the frigate Jean de Vienne had conducted a decisive action against two new attacks and seized 19 Somali pirates.

   More than 100 pirate attacks occurred off the Horn of Africa in 2008.
