CMA CGM ship makes first call at Mobile

CMA CGM (America) said its containership Blue Whale will call at the recently opened Mobile Container Terminal on Friday, Jan. 2.

   The Blue Whale is one in a series 5,100 TEU vessels owned and operated by CMA CGM that comprise the weekly PEX 3 service form Asia to the U.S. Gulf Coast. The service includes calls at Shanghai,

Xiamen, Chiwan, Hong Kong, Houston, Mobile, Norfolk, Savannah, Charleston and Kingston.

   It joins Zim Line as a customer of the Mobile Container Terminal, which is 80 percent owned by AP Moller-Maersk affiliate APM Terminals North America and 20 percent owned by the Terminal Link division of CMA CGM. The Choctaw Point facility opened in October 2008.
