Horizon Lines introduces reefer cargo monitoring system

Horizon Lines Inc. said it was introducing tracking and monitoring product for refrigerated ocean containers moving between the continental U.S. and Puerto Rico.

   The ReeferPlus GPS system is designed to improve the visibility and security of high-value perishable cargo requiring cold chain logistics.   Key capabilities include GPS-enabled real-time container tracking; in-box sensors reporting temperature, atmosphere and security updates via the Web; and remote monitoring and adjusting of reefer conditions with one computer click, Horizon said.
