Labuan Shipyard Engineering Sdn Bhd (LSE) received praise for turning around what was formerly a troubled company into a viable firm with core businesses in shipbuilding, ship repair, naval craft maintenance, and oil and gas fabrication.
The Member of Parliament for Labuan, Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman, said that ever since Labuan Shipyard took over the then Sabah Shipyard Engineering two years ago, it has since secured various projects to build and repair dredgers as well as oil platforms.
“Labuan Shipyard is now able to pay better wages to the workers and even gave out bonuses last year,” he said at the LSE annual dinner held at the convention hall of Ujana Kewangan here recently.
LSE in turn announced that it would contribute a cow each to 10 villages on the island in conjunction with the Aidil Adha celebration.
