Friday evening a general cargo carrier 'Loenid Leonov' went aground at the mouth of the River Teign.
Brixham Coastguard were advised at 11:20pm (Friday) that the 2,800 tonnes Maltese registered vessel 'Loenid Leonov', had gone hard aground on a sand bar and lay across the mouth of the river, however the vessel has not been compromised.
The vessel has 10 crew aboard as well as a local pilot and is carrying a cargo of clay destined for Finland.
The vessel was hard aground and was re-floated on the next high water (9:30am) with the assistance of the local tug 'Teign C' with operations commencing at approximately 7:00am”
The vessel is presently en route to Finland.
