Seaspan takes delivery of 2,500-TEU box ship

Seaspan Corp. on Sept. 2 took delivery of the third of six new containerships it is expecting in 2008.

The 2,500-TEU CSCL Montevideo was built by China's Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., which delivered the ship to Seaspan five months ahead of schedule. The new vessel is subject to a time charter with China Shipping Container Lines (Asia) Co. Ltd. for a 12-year period.

New York-listed Seaspan's operating fleet stands at 32, with 36 remaining newbuilds to be delivered over the next three years.
