ABS promotes Matsumoto to Japan manager

The American Bureau of Shipping has promoted Hitoshi Matsumoto to country manager for Japan, effective Sept. 1. 

Matsumoto joined ABS in 2001 as a surveyor and is currently assistant country manager for Japan, a position he has held since January. He will replace Ken Okabayashi who is retiring from day-to-day responsibilities after 14 years in the position. Okabayashi will remain with ABS in the newly created position of business director.
