The Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and The Vietnam Alumni Club of Youth Friendship Program (VACYF) are preparing to welcome a Japanese cruise ship that promotes youth relations in Southeast Asia.
Nippon Maru, the Ship for Southeast Asia Youth Program, will berth at HCMC from December 1 to 4.
The Youth Union will also organize a reunion dinner and meeting for the ship's crew, national group leaders from 11 countries, and all Vietnamese participants who have gone on the cruise since their country embraced the program in 1995.
Vietnam has so far sent 29 youths to the annual program sponsored by the Japanese government and sup-ported by ASEAN member countries.
The cruise aboard the ship is a multilateral exchange activity Japan promotes with ASEAN member-countries to strengthen understanding and friendship.
It involves youths from these countries going on the annual cruise.
This year they will visit Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam from October 23rd to December 12th.
Over 300 will be on board the Nippon Maru and take part in many activities, including discussions on the main theme “Youth Participation in Social Activities”.
The Vietnamese alumni will also take part in cultural exchanges with local youths and homestay programs in each country in to gain a deeper understanding of each other.
The Vietnam Youth Union chose the delegates and provided them training.
