ESPMC-WITASS implementing heavy box surcharge

The ESPMC-WITASS liner conference said Monday its members will introduce an overweight container surcharge of $150 per container in the northbound trade from the West Coast of South America to North Europe.

   The surcharge will apply to containers with a gross (tare and payload) weight in excess of 18 tons per TEU with effect from the following sailings until the conference's demise on Oct. 17:

   Cap Blanche, voyage 8130.

   Libra Santa Catarina, 8229.

   Rotterdam, 807.

   The six members of ESPMC-WITASS are Container Cargo Lines Inc., CMA CGM, Compania Sud Americana de Vapores (CSAV), Hamburg Sud, Hapag-Lloyd and K Line.
