The German company also said Friday that Wolf Dieter Enter has been named technical manager for Germanischer Lloyd in China. Enter previously headed GL's liaison office in Ningbo.

The strong demand for newbuilding tonnage in recent years has been matched by a strong trend to build up shipyard capacities in particular in Asia,?GL said in a statement, adding that it is classifying 700 vessels on order in the country.
