QUALSHIP 21 is a US Coast Guard incentive aimed at encouraging quality operation of non-US flagged ships. The Qualship 21 certificate testifies to the vessels compliance with superior standards of safety, security and environment protection.
The 12 ZIM vessels receiving the current QUALSHIP21 eligibility are ZIM Haifa, ZIM Virginia, ZIM Europa, ZIM Korea, ZIM Canada, ZIM Pacific, ZIM Iberia, ZIM Jamaica, ZIM Italia, ZIM Asia, ZIM China and Zim Barcelona.
To qualify for Qualship 21 certification, the vessels must present a flawless record and have no previous substandard detentions in the U.S, no marine violations or serious marine casualties, and successful previous Port State Control (PSC) exams; the vessels must not be owned or operated by any company that has been associated with any PSC detention in U.S. waters within the previous 24 months.
One of the benefits of the QUALSHIP 21 certificate is a two years limited Port State Control oversight.
All ZIM vessels comply with the International Safety Management (ISM) regulations, and ZIM is pledged to maintain the highest standards of safety and quality, as well as to comply with marine-environment protection procedures.
