Jun 5, 2008 Shipping

OOCL is to restore the bunker surcharge for cargo from Mainland China (except south China) to US starting from July 1.

After the adjustment, OOCL will charge US$904 for every dry cargo TEU and $1,130 for every FEU as bunker surcharge. For every 40-foot high cube, bunker surcharge will be $1,271 and every 45-foot high will be $1,431. For every cubic metre of less-than-container-load (LCL) cargo, bunker surcharge will be $25.

Inland Fuel Surcharge will also be adjusted. Since July 1, the fuel surcharge for cargo to US west or east coast cities will be $125 per container while surcharge for those to other US inland cities will be $433 per container.

On August 1, the carrier will impose a further raise on bunker surcharge and inland fuel surcharge level for such cargo.

Starting from August, bunker surcharge will rise to $1,200 for every TEU and $1,500 for every FEU. Every 40-foot high cube will cost $1,690 and every 45-foot high cube $1,900. LCL cargo will rise to $40 for every cubic metre.

Inland fuel surcharge will increase to $150 per container for cargo to US west or east coast cities and $600 for those to other US inland cities.

OOCL made adjustment to Heavy Container Surcharge for cargo from Shanghai to Europe earlier in mid-May. For every TEU of such cargo with a weight equal to or larger than 18 tonnes, Heavy Container Surcharge will be $200.
