Multi-modal logistics and shipping firm Shreyas Shipping & Logistics plans to venture into bulk cargo movement in its financial year 2011-12 to improve its margins. The Mumbai-based firm has also ventured into various segments of logistics like warehousing, road and railway transportation. “During the year, we have been bullish on making investments and strategic decisions that can drive us to achieve the desired positioning of being an integrated logistics solutions provider,” said S. Ramakrishnan, chairman and managing director of Shreyas. “Realignment of our business strategy has helped us get better equipped to offer gamut of services in logistics segment; thereby creating turnaround in our annual performance.” In the year ended 31 March 2011, Shreyas posted net profit of Rs127.8m ($2.8m) compared to a net loss of Rs157.1m in the previous year. Revenue rose to Rs1.93bn as against Rs1.5bn. The company current owns and operates three container vessels and one bulk vessel.
