Hanjin Shipping receives two 8,600-TEU ships

SOUTH Korea's Hanjin Shipping has taken delivery of two 8,600-TEU newbuildings built by Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, each 335 metres long and 43 metres abeam.


The 91,600-ton ships, the Hanjin Rotterdam and Hanjin Seattle, are the last two in a series of five 8,600-TEU ships. The vessels are equipped with fuel-efficient and eco-friendly engines that can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, said a statement from the carrier.


The twin ships will be deployed on the shipping line's Asia-North Europe 6 (NE6) Service later this month.


The port rotation for the NE6 loop is: Kwangyang, Busan, Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Hong Kong, Shenzhen- Yantian, Felixstowe, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Singapore, returning to Kwangyang.
