THE sixth Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), from April 10 to 15 at the Suntec City Entertainment Centre Atrium together with the International Sportsweek for Seafarers, will focus on development strategies.
Organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), SMW 2011 features a total of 25 events including "outreach programmes, conferences, seminars and networking events, where SMW participants will come together to learn, build, discuss and celebrate", according to a statement from organisers.
"I am glad that the Singapore Maritime Week continues to reach out to the community through its various programmes," said Transport Minister Raymond Lim on opening the event. "With the strong support of participants from the international maritime community, I am sure that Singapore Maritime Week will continue to be a success as it reflects Singapore's development as an international maritime centre."
A number of seminars discussing versatile issues affecting the Singapore maritime industry are offered. Other highlighted activities include the International Chemical and Oil Pollution Conference and Exhibition (ICOPCE) 2011, Sea Asia 2011 and the International Maritime-Port Technology and Development Conference (MTEC) 2011.
