Mar 30, 2011 Shipping

UPS has extended its next-day express delivery coverage for both packages and heavy freight to Europe from Hong Kong.

The addition of four direct flights brings the total number of flights operated by the company from Hong Kong to Europe each week to 11.

A company statement said the new daily direct flights will link Hong Kong with its European hub in Cologne Mondays to Thursdays using B747-400 aircraft. The flights will operate in addition to the seven weekly flights that it already offers between Hong Kong and Cologne via Dubai.

The new service offers coverage across Europe reaching 34 countries with non-dutiable small package and letters service, and 18 countries with dutiable small package service.

"The new direct flights allow our customers' shipments to be delivered to Europe in an even timelier manner," said Brian Cusson, president of north Asia district. "The new flights have also added significant capacity to support the fast growing Hong Kong to Europe lane."
