Mar 25, 2011 Shipping

The company that brought the world the super post panamax ship eight years ago has gone to the next dimension.

Hong Kong’s OOCL signed a contract with Samsung Heavy Industries yesterday for the construction of six 13,000 teu vessels. The six container vessels are to be delivered by 2013.

With the delivery of the 8,063 teu OOCL Shenzhen from the same Korean yard in 2003 OOCL started the rush to build mega boxships.
