May 21, 2008 Shipping

Some 47 percent of all containership deliveries in the 12 months from May 2007 to April 2008 were phased into the booming Asia/Europe trade, according to AXS-Alphaliner, the liner shipping reference division of French analysts AXSMarine.

AXS said the newbuilds helped boost capacity in the trade by 700,000 TEUs, or 30 percent, during the 12 months.
