VIETNAM's Tan Cang Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), a joint-venture by Hanjin Shipping, Saigon New Port, MOL and Wanhai Lines, joined together at a gala ceremony near Ho Chi Minh City in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.
The new terminal, with a handling capacity of one million TEU annually, has a total quay area of 40 hectares of two berths, a terminal length of 590 metres and 14 metres of depth to accommodate 110,000 tonnage, equivalent to 10,000 TEU.
Said Hanjin terminal chief Se-Hwa Jung: "We are expecting a lot from this new terminal, as it will soon become a major logistics hub in the region. Many major carriers like ourselves are investing in intra-Asia trade and we believe having a dedicated terminal will give us a stronger presence in the market."
