AMSTERDAM's Schiphol Airport and South Korea's Incheon International Airport have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to cooperate in the promotion of the "e-freight" programme launched by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The initiative aims to create a paperless air cargo transportation environment in which for cargo carriers, freight forwarding agents, handling companies and customs agents can operate.
The MoU requires the two airports to encourage the formulation of agreements for the use of e-freight between local parties to their supply chain.
It also encourages the exchange of e-freight knowledge and expertise between the two airports, and paves the way for research and development into projects that are expected to increase the use of e-freight between Schiphol and Incheon, a report by UK's Handy Shipping Guide said.
IATA's e-freight initiative is designed to make the logistics supply chain for the air cargo industry more efficient for customers.
