Indonesia-based Samudera Shipping Line has spent approximately $11m to acquire one of its chartered container ship. The 1999-built, 1,054 teu ship is scheduled to be delivered at the end of March. The ship will continue to serve her usual service routes on the Malaysia-Singapore Express (MSX) and Bangkok Express (BKX).
The container ship purchase is the second made by Samudera in the first quarter of this year. “This will enable the company to have more control over vessel operating cost and capacity,” the Singapore-listed firm said. The acquisition of the unnamed ship will be financed through a combination of internal resources and bank loans.
