Jiangsu to build 20 navigation channels in five years

EASTERN China's Jiangsu province plans to spend CNY30 billion (US$4.6 billion), building 20 navigation channels and 16 locks in the coming five years, Xinhua reports.


This year, the province plans to spend CNY5 billion on 39 kilometres of channels and locks. In the past five years, the province spent CNY15.5 billion on navigation facilities. By the end of 2010, the province already had 2,000 kilometres of shipping channels.
