MALAYSIA's MISC Berhad has suspended its Far East-India-Mideast Halal Express 2 (HE 2) deploying four 2,800-TEU ships serving Shanghai, Xiamen, Singapore, Port Kelang, Nhava Sheva and Mundra.
The last westbound sailing departed Port Kelang February 17, reported Alphaliner. It started in September 2009 when MISC re-marketed itself as an intra-Asia carrier and withdrew from European trades.
The service employed chartered vessels taken on by MISC, but the carrier has had difficulties with profitably. The 2,800-TEU ships plying the HE 2 are to be chartered to other carriers. The Halal Express 1 (HE 1) will be maintained, deploying six 3,800- to 4,500-TEU ships.
