HONG KONG Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) will stage a booth from the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council at the Education and Careers Expo 2011 from February 17-20 for school-leavers and graduates to discuss entry requirements to the maritime industry.

"Job opportunities in the maritime industry will remain plentiful in the foreseeable future, as the industry is in need of manpower," said the Hong Kong Maritime Industry Council whose recruitment drive hopes to enhance Hong Kong's position in home-grown talent.

The booth provides information on the job nature and entry requirements for seafaring and land-based careers in various maritime service sectors including ship management, ship finance, ship broking, marine insurance, maritime law and maritime arbitration, as well as professional posts in the Marine Department.

Information on various maritime-related education programmes will be available from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the Vocational Training Council's Maritime Services Training Institute and the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Training (Tsing Yi), as well as details on training incentive schemes like the Hong Kong Maritime Scholarship Scheme, Sea-going Training Incentive Scheme and Ship Repair Training Incentive Scheme.
