IRAN's Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines' (IRISL) handymax bulker Sinin sent out a distress signal 350 nautical miles east of Masirah, Oman in the North Arabian Sea that it was under attack and was heading for the Somali coast.

The Maltese-flagged ship and its crew of 13 Iranians and 10 Indians was subjected to heavy rocket attack en route from Fujairah, UAE, to Singapore by two pirate skiffs, according to photographic evidence from a US Navy aircraft.

Iran's main container shipping line vessel is believed to be hijacked and heading to the Somali coast said a report from the EU's naval squadron NAVFOR, said London's Containerisation International.
