Ensco has ordered a pair of jack-up rigs at Keppel FELS and has options for two more, Seatrade-asia reports. The two rigs will be enhanced versions of the KFELS Super A design and will be built at the Singapore yard at a cost of $440m. The rigs are due for delivery in the second and fourth quarters of 2013. Ensco has options for a further two rigs which have to be exercised by 2 August this year.
“Given the rise in jack-up utilisation and our positive outlook for future demand, we believe that new construction is now the best option to further high grade our fleet with state-of-the-art equipment,” said Mark Burns, senior vice president of Ensco.
