Fjord Carries Equipment to Niger Delta

Fairstar Heavy Transport has been awarded a US$900,000 contract by Grinaker - LTA Construction based in Nigeria to transport equipment to the Niger Delta.


The Fairstar semi-submersible vessel Fjord departed from its home port in Rotterdam on Jan. 21 and is now sailing to a rendezvous point in the vicinity of the Chevron Escravos Gas to Liquid facility in Nigeria.


The Fjord’s combination of shallow draft and large deck space will allow it to navigate the sandbar at the entrance of the Escravos River, according to a company statement. The transport is expected to take six day.
