SINGAPORE-listed Samudera Shipping Line, a subsidiary of Indonesia's Samudera Group, is to purchase its chartered 1,054-TEU ship for US$13.6 million to add to its total fleet of 48 vessels.
The ship is thought to be the Sinar Bintan currently chartered to Hanjin and built in 2002 deployed on its Yangon service (YGX) until the end of January, reports Alphaliner. This adds to its mix of owned and chartered fleet of which 71 per cent is chartered against 98 per cent five years ago. It currently operates 32 of 28,576-TEU capacity, of which 14 units of 7,484 TEU are owned.
The regional carrier serves Mideast, the Indian subcontinent, south east Asia, Indochina and the Far East.
