APL, Hanjin start joint Vietnam feeder

May 14, 2008 Shipping

APL and Hanjin Shipping have launched a feeder service between Vietnam, Taiwan and Singapore called the Southern Vietnam Express service (SVX).

The SVX will offer two weekly departures from Ho Chi Minh City with a full port rotation of Ho Chi Minh City, Kaohsiung, Ho Chi Minh City, Singapore and Ho Chi Minh City. Each carrier will contribute one 700-TEU vessel to the service.

Singapore-based APL, which already operates three weekly feeder services from Vietnam, said the SVX would give shippers some of the fastest transit times between Vietnam and both coasts of the United States.

The SVX provides our customers with the service reliability and flexibility they need as global demand for Vietnam's products continues to grow. Calls at Kaohsiung and Singapore also gives our customers access to APL's linehaul service connections to destinations throughout the U.S. and Europe, said Bob Sappio, APL's senior vice president for transpacific trade.
