OOCL delays delivery of four Hudong boxships

Dec 14, 2010 Shipping

Hong Kong: Orient Overseas (International) Ltd., Hong Kong’s largest container line, said the delivery of four new ships had been postponed partly because of production delays, Bloomberg reported.

The shipping line is also pushing back handovers to avoid adding new vessels in traditionally quieter parts of the year, he said.

The four ships will be delivered in 2013 after delays of as much as two quarters, the shipping line said in a statement today. The vessels, each able to carry about 8,600 containers, are being built at Hudong- Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group).
