CHENNAI-BASED forwarder Draft Cargoways has filed a complaint with the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) against Damco US, and its parent AP Moller Maersk, for collecting demurrage and detention fees not listed in tariffs.

The non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) is seeking US$20,725 damages and $150,000 in reparations for lost business which it claims the Maersk unit used in a "bait-and-switch" scheme in its bills of lading and disclosed confidential information on its customers.

Draft has asked the Damco and Maersk to cease its collection of $174,412 for demurrage and detention ahead of the FMC initial decision in November, 9 and the final ruling in March 2012, reports London's International Freighting Weekly.
