UASC is amending its Far East-Europe AEC2/CME service, on which South Korea's Hanjin Shipping takes slots, by adding port of calls at Xiamen, Jeddah and Algeciras (Hanjin terminal) westbound and at Port Said, Jeddah and Port Kelang eastbound.
The new port schedule takes effect from November 19, with the first sailing scheduled to depart from Xiamen.
As a result of the revised rotation, calls at Singapore on the westbound leg have been halted from November 17, while eastbound calls at Khor Fakkan will be scrapped from January 1, reports Alphaliner.
The newly amended AEC 2 offers connections at Algeciras to/from West Africa, using the UASC-Hanjin West Africa relay service (WAF). "A direct call at Cai Mep is also planned, but the inaugural Vietnam call has been postponed, pending confirmation of the berth window at Cai Mep. Vietnam will be served via feeders for the time being," said Alphaliner.
The new rotation for the AEC2 is Le Havre, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Port Said, Jeddah, Port Kelang, Busan, Shanghai, Xiamen, Shenzhen-Yantian, Port Kelang, Jeddah, Algeciras (HT) and back to Le Havre.
The service will continue to deploy 10 ships of 6,900 TEU, all of which are provided by UASC.
"The AEC2 revision accompanies the split of UASC Far East-Middle East-Europe AEC 1 pendulum service into two end-to-end services: AEC1 and AGX1, also implemented in November."
UASC has also commenced a Vietnam feeder service connecting Port Kelang to Ho Chi Minh City (SEA3) with the chartered 1,043-TEU Oshairij. The new service is scheduled to call for the first time at Ho Chi Minh City on November 18, calling at the Saigon Premier Container Terminal (SPCT).
