Jiangsu ship exports rises 50.5pc in first nine months

JIANGSU'S ship exports in the first three quarters of this year increased by 50.5 per cent year on year to US$9.7 billion, Xinhua reported.

Processed ship exports valued $9.6 million, up 52.6 per cent, accounting for 99 per cent of the total of Jiangsu's ship export value.

These ships are mainly exported to the European Union, Latin America, Hong Kong and Africa. Those to the EU valued $3.4 billion, up 30.4 per cent. Those to Hong Kong were valued $1.6 billion, up 69.4 per cent. Exports to Hong Kong rose 69.4 per cent in value to $1.3 billion. Exports to Africa jumped 160 per cent to $1.1 billion. Exports to these four markets took up 75.6 per cent of the total of Jiangsu's ship export value.

Containership exports increased 29.4 per cent to $1.2 billion. Bulk ship exports surged 160 per cent to $5.8 billion.

In September, Jiangsu's ship exports valued $890 million, increased 22.5 per cent year on year but fell 11.7 per cent over August.
