Jet-fuel tanker and containership collide off Dutch coast

A GREEK tanker, Mindoro, carrying aircraft fuel, collided with a Cypriot 804-TEU Jork Ranger, off the Dutch coast recently, reported Dutch-based BNO News.

After collision, the tanker left with a five-metre long spill 30 kilometres off the coast of Sceveningen in the Netherlands. As aircraft fuel is light and evaporates quickly, the Dutch coastguard said the leak did not cause any environmental risk.

The containership had some damage, but was allowed to proceed to Rotterdam. No injuries were reported, but the cause of the accident was unknown.
