Oct 14, 2010 Shipping

SINGAPORE's container shipping arm of the NOL Group, APL, has released its latest operating figures for the four-week period ending September 17, which show that total liftings remained flat compared to a month ago at 435,000 TEU.

APL's liftings peaked in June at 443,800 TEU and have displayed a downwards trend since.

APL's average freight rates declined by two per cent during the period under review to US$1,552 per TEU, compared to one month earlier.

This ended the eight consecutive months of rising freight rates for the carrier, recorded since December last year when rates hit an all-time-low of $1,095/TEU.
