CONTRABAND items found in a 10,000 to 11,000 TEU consignment bound for NATO and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan had been cleared by customs into Pakistan as food supplies over a two year period resulting in customs revenue losses.

Of particular interest was PKR80 million (US$931,207) in liquor found in a container contracted by ISAF by the Lunar Products Company, Afghanistan, in July by the director of general inspection and investigation Peshawar. On investigation Kabul-headquartered ISAF confirmed the contraband items of liquor and other items did not belong to them.

According to a report from Pakistan's The Nation a three-member Supreme Court summoned the customs Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to the hearing who had taken no action outside of the Collector Customs Rawalpindi report which outlined action taken on those officials who showed negligence.
