COSCO PACIFIC, Cosco's terminal operator, has announced an August year-on-year container volume increase of 24 per cent to 4.5 million TEU.
Throughput at Pearl River Delta terminals last month increased 18 per cent, and enjoyed the biggest yet year-to-date monthly gain of 24.5 per cent against the 17.9 per cent in the Yangtze and 13.9 per cent on Bohai Bay. Some 10.9 million TEU was lifted year-to-date at Bohai terminals, 10.4 million TEU on the Pearl, while volume increased to 6.3 million TEU on the Yangtze.
This compares to the year-to-date growth of 20.3 per cent from 21 terminals of which Cosco either owns or has a stake on the mainland and overseas.
