Maersk Line named Thomas Knudsen as the regional head of its Asia Pacific business based in Singapore, where he will be responsible for the execution of the Danish carrier’s day-to-day operations in Southeast Asia as well as Australia and New Zealand.
Knudsen replaces Jesper Praestensgaard, who is leaving Maersk Line to become chief commercial officer of Hapag-Lloyd and a new member of the German carrier's executive board, as of Jan. 1, 2011.
Knudsen, who is currently the head of Maersk Line’s business in east and central China, will assume his new role on Nov. 1, reporting to Hanne B. Sorensen, Maersk Line's chief commercial officer.
