THE Containership Company (TCC) has announced that it will add Ningbo to its port rotation on its Great Dragon service from Taicang to Los Angeles beginning September 10, according to a statement issued by the company this week.
TCC chief operating officer, Franck Kayser, said the service expansion was a response to customer demand for more Chinese port calls.
"Ever since we started our first service out of Taicang our customers have repeatedly asked us to expand our no-frills service concept to other Chinese ports," he said.
The carrier will first call Ningbo on September 10 with the 2,900 TEU vessel, the Nanjing Dragon.
The service will offer a transit time of 17 days to Los Angeles, TCC said.
"Our customers simply want equipment to be available, and then have it moved from A to B. This is what we are providing them from Taicang, and this is what we will provide from Ningbo," Mr Kayser said.
