Bangkok: Strong trade growth failed to lift Regional Container Lines (RCL) out of the red in the second quarter. The Bangkok-headquartered line reported a second quarter loss of THB193m, a 33% improvement on the THB289m loss in the same period in 2009. Total volumes carried by RCL in the second quarter were up 10% at 640,685 teu. Higher fuel costs from the full deployment of the company’s vessels increased total expenses in the second quarter by 3% to THB4.07bn.
