GLOBAL container transport and logistics group NOL has been named a winner of IDC Asia Pacific's Enterprise Innovation award.
The award recognises Asia's top organisations in IT innovation, application and business excellence. More than 200 entries were submitted for the award to IDC, a global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information technology and telecommunications markets.
"We're delighted to have won this prestigious award," said NOL Group CIO Wu Choy Peng. "It's recognition of our innovative approach to combining NOL's existing technology and infrastructure with emerging technology available in the market."
NOL was honoured for a project that "leveraged emerging technologies and IT processes to rejuvenate, sustain and empower business growth."
To meet the mandatory Importer Security Filing (ISF) and Additional Carrier Requirements administered by the US Bureau of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), NOL designed a system that enabled customers to comply with the ruling which came into force in January 2010.
The ISF requires importers to electronically transmit to CBP 10 data elements no later than 24 hours before cargo is loaded on a vessel destined for the US. Data elements include name and address of manufacturer, seller, buyer and container stuffing location.
In devising the system, NOL applied established technology to give customers the flexibility to submit cargo information in their preferred format; and provide online monitoring and tracking of incoming and outgoing data, NOL said in a statement.
