The world's biggest cruise ship, the Independence of the Seas, is due to arrive in Britain - and at a height of 237 feet, she would dwarf the Titanic.

Independence Of The Seas is 160,000 tonnesThe 160,000-tonne ship will operate from Southampton until November.

On her 15 decks, she can carry more than 4,000 guests, who will be looked after by 1,360 crew members.

She was built in Finland, at a cost of £400m, and entered service in 2006.

As well as the normal shops and resturants, there is also an ice rink, surf simulator and rock climbing wall.

This ship is great to handle, it's always difficult and always exciting and I don't sweat too much, said the ship's captain Teo Strazicic.

Captain Teo Strazicic describes manoeuvring ships as great. But a ship is a ship - they are all made of metal. The only difference with this one is that she's the biggest in the world.

A naming ceremony will take place on April 30.

Cruises start at £349 per person for a four-night trip.

More than a million Britons are expected to take a cruise in 2008.
