Panalpina appoints Thomas Niederer new chief of road and rail

SWISS logistics provider Panalpina has appointed Thomas Niederer as global head of road and rail to have a special focus on Europe and the Middle East.

Mr Niederer brings breadth of experience in European trucking having worked for Danzas and DHL Express in various positions said a company statement. He joined ABX Logistics as general manager European road and later moved to Kuehne + Nagel as vice president for groupage.

In his new position with Panalpina, Thomas Niederer is responsible for the end-to-end success of the road and rail sub-product, defining value propositions offered to customers, ensuring optimal procurement of core capacity, subcontractor management, and process ownership of the day-to-day delivery of the operational service.
