IMO moves back home

Apr 23, 2008 Shipping

The International Maritime Organization today moved back into its Albert Embankment headquarters in London after nearly two years in temporary accommodation while the building underwent major refurbishment.

IMO Secretary-General Efthimios E. Mitropoulos said of the return: Operating away from our purpose-built headquarters building for 20 months has been a massive challenge, both for the IMO delegates and the secretariat, but I am delighted to say it has been one to which all have risen with commendable fortitude, patience and, not least, a sense of humor. I am certain that, given the heightened level of amenity in our refurbished headquarters, everyone will agree that our period 'away from home' has been very worthwhile. IMO's address henceforth reverts to: 4 Albert Embankment, London, SE1 7SR, United Kingdom. All current telephone and fax numbers and e-mail addresses remain unchanged and post sent to the temporary address will be redirected.
