ZENITH Global Logistics has opened a regional freight hub in Atlanta to accommodate its growing home delivery business and split container programme, reports High Point, North Carolina-based Furniture Today magazine.

The new facility - the Conover, NC company's second new freight hub opening in seven months - will help retailers facing fluctuating inventory and storage capacity needs, said Zenith CEO Jack Hawn.

"They are relying on our split container programme more than ever to help them maintain changing inventory needs," he said.

The company also has seen increased demand for its home delivery services in the Atlanta area.

"In our tough economy, retailers are looking for ways to stand out," said David Alioto, executive vice president for home delivery services. "Our carefully developed programme is exactly the type of service offering a retailer can leverage to give their business a competitive edge."

In November, Zenith opened a freight hub in Tupelo, Mississippi. Mr Hawn said the company is eyeing sites in Seattle, Chicago, Orlando, Florida, and Elizabethtown, New Jersey, for expansion.
